Certain Policies Even in Uncertain Times
Businesses must have two things to be successful - certainty and stability. Decisions to start a business, positive growth trajectories, and even just survival depend on operators and investors knowing what to expect in order to move forward — such as tax structures, regulations and municipal policies. The pandemic presented new challenges that we must learn from and innovate to overcome, to ensure we are not impacted negatively in the future by unexpected events. While we are working to address significant challenges presently, I will keep an open line of communication to assist with needs, and place top priority on developing a path forward together that will keep our business open with, innovation flourishing while smart and safe solutions are implemented to enable our economy to stay stable and families employed, even in unexpected circumstances.
Strong Infrastructure/Core Service Prioritization/Services
As more families decide to come home to OKC, priorities of improving streets and lighting, safe communities, strong schools, access to quality health care, parks, recreational and cultural opportunities are even more important to consider as we work together to make the 405 the best place to live our lives, raise our families, and grow our businesses. I am committed to supporting firefighters and law enforcement and improving community policing with partnerships and tools to assist them in their work to protect all law-abiding Oklahomans.
CARTER'S KEYS TO SUCCESS
Dynamic Outreach for Success with New Industries and Opportunities
Oklahoma City is gaining national and international recognition for its vibrant tourism, still untapped full potential, and welcome environment for emerging markets, technology, defense and aerospace. As your City Council representative, I will actively be engaged in ensuring that policies welcome new investment in our community, partnerships are developed with current enterprises based here, and will advocate for proactive planning that prepares us to welcome efficiently and effectively new opportunities for growth.
Responsive Leadership Leads to Flourishing Communities
A one-size-fits-all approach does not always work in a large metro area, and local communities always know what’s best for the neighborhoods where they live and raise their children. As your Ward 1 Councilman, I’ll continue to listen to your concerns and priorities, and work for fair distribution of funds and community-friendly policies to support local needs and interests.
ABOUT BRADLEY CARTER
OKLAHOMA ROOTS
Bradley Carter was born in Tampa, Florida, on McDill Air Force Base where his father served in the U.S. Air Force. When he was five years old, Bradley and his family returned to his parents’ hometown of Bethany, Oklahoma, where he grew up.
After graduating from Bethany High School, he followed in the footsteps of his father, uncle and grandfather and entered the service, joining the U.S. Army. An automobile accident led to opioid addiction and eventual discharge from the service, beginning a dark period in his life.
Years later, when after he met his wife, Amy, they began their journey together attending church, accepting Christ as their Savior and growing their own family. After losing Amy’s sister and brother-in-law to opioid overdoses just four months apart, they adopted their niece, completing their family of seven.
Motivated by their own redemption from opioid addiction, they began to build ministries and conduct outreach, opening doors of opportunity to help others find and fulfill their God-given purpose.
FAMILY, BUSINESS, COMMUNITY
Now more than 20 years later, the Carters are in their fourteenth year as residents of Ward 1, operating a flourishing coffee business, and still serving the community. In keeping with the family mission to change lives in Oklahoma City. Bradley continues to serve on the boards of various ministries working in partnerships to support local charities.
Bradley’s business experience in growing a coffee supply company from the ground up, working in the insurance industry and in a wide network of partnerships with local businesses, restaurants and non-profits across the metro area has provided him with an understanding of regulatory and policy issues. Most importantly, Bradley recognizes thriving businesses and industries as the backbone of any community and must be supported by policies promoting freedom and opportunity. Although their business was considered "essential" during the spring 2020 shutdown, many of their customers were not. They experienced first-hand the devastating effects of forced shutdowns and know many Oklahomans cannot survive another.
Oklahomans are known for their resilience, ingenuity and creativity — character traits that have helped the Carters grow their business and their community.
YOUR VOICE IN OKLAHOMA CITY
As your voice on the City Council for the past few years, Bradley will utilize his experience and years of business experience, ministry outreach and wisdom gleaned from interacting with and serving neighbors in need to create a stronger future with opportunities for all.
